1 Star disappointment
the seller never sent me my book, never returned my e-mails or offered to refund my money. I don’t know why. But, regardless of why, Amazon came through for me and got me a refund.
Thanks Amazon! I appreciate the help. It’s nice to know you are supportive of your customers.
5 Stars Great gift
The Joy of Cooking is a great cookbook. I was given it for a bridal shower 27 years ago, and still use it all of the time. I’m giving Joy to new brides as shower gift and hope they too will get “Joy” out of it.
5 Stars A Book for all Cooks
I have had a copy of “Joy” for nearly thirty years and use it often. I gave a copy to my daughter living in the US;it’s always in use. So asked to a give a gift with a “gourmet” theme, it was a natural. I have not seen the 75th anniversary edition (I live in France, the gift went to England) but if it anything like predecessors then it is a treasure. I must get one for myself. Please note that “Joy” is not only a book for American cooks.
5 Stars This book should be at the right hand of a novice, or a professional.
“The Joy of Cooking” is one of the most important cookbooks ever written. Some say it should be the first book bought for any child starting out on their own. I think “The Betty Crocker Cookbook” is a little simpler and a better first book. That is not to discount the value this book has which should be bought at the same time, or soon thereafter. I know many professional chefs which have this book within reach at their place of work. This book will help put couples on the path of providing real food for real people instead of relying on processed food for themselves and their families. Buy from local farmers, use good ingredients, eat mostly at home and stay away from food prepared with ingredients only understood by scientists being the only people capable of pronouncing their names. Do not let your children be fed by strangers in an indoor playpen from mountains of paper containers containing questionable ingredients with the words “Happy Meal” and pictures of “Clowns” covering them. Happy children help prepare food with their parents in a good home from good farm grown produce. If you do not have this book, buy it and buy it now.
5 Stars Joy of Cooking
I purchase this book for my wife. She started using it right away, she found it very helpful and is very happy with it.Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition - 2006

Deceptively Delicious Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food

It has become common knowledge that childhood obesity rates are increasing every year. But the rates continue to rise. And between busy work schedules and the inconvenient truth that kids simply refuse to eat vegetables and other healthy foods, how can average parents ensure their kids are getting the proper nutrition and avoiding bad eating habits?
As a mother of three, Jessica Seinfeld can speak for all parents who struggle to feed their kids right and deal nightly with dinnertime fiascos. As she wages a personal war against sugars, packaged foods, and other nutritional saboteurs, she offers appetizing alternatives for parents who find themselves succumbing to the fastest and easiest (and least healthy) choices available to them. Her modus operandi? Her book is filled with traditional recipes that kids love, except they’re stealthily packed with veggies hidden in them so kids don’t even know! With the help of a nutritionist and a professional chef, Seinfeld has developed a month’s worth of meals for kids of all ages that includes, for example, pureed cauliflower in mac and cheese, and kale in spaghetti and meatballs. She also provides revealing and humorous personal anecdotes, tear

5 Stars A must-have if you want to cook for baby
Thanks to this book (and a few others) I have not had to feed my 12 month old any pre-packaged baby food. I love this book and learned many interesting details in the front portion of it. It has been my companion as I journeyed into new territory.
In the beginning, the author talks about what is important and why, and what to avoid. The later sections are divided up into age breaks, and each section has ideas and recipes on what to feed and tips on how to prepare the food better. My son had eaten every recipe that I have made from this book. And nothing was too difficult to prepare. Of all the books I have purchased on cooking for baby, this one is really one of the best! You wont be disappointed.
3 Stars Nice but too simple
This is a nice book with good background. Problem to me is that the ‘recipes’ are mostly one ingredient dishes where you simply steam or saute… Why would I need a book for that? I also have Annabel Karmel’s 100 Purees book and that one has more creativity, helping one start to blend different things together. Most of the recipes in tThe Petit Appetit are things you could do yourself- steam the vegetable, add a little oil or spice, puree. Much too basic.
4 Stars Great help!
I just got this book! the truth is that this book is great help for parents of kids over 6 months… the 4-6 months is SO basic its not needed… but hte rest is great! i am happy i got it and would recomend it to other friends!
5 Stars Love this cookbook
My sister recommended this cookbook to me & I love it! Very informative and I’ve really enjoyed discovering new things to try with my 7 mo. old daughter. I enjoy cooking but had no idea how to go about making my own baby food and this book provided a great guide with wonderful suggestions. I really like how she encourages the use of organic foods. I’ll be using it well into her toddlerhood, as my sister does with her son!
4 Stars Truly easy, yummy cookbook
This is a wonderful book to get you through from babyhood to childhood and beyond. The veggie pancakes are as beloved by my 1 year old as by my husband. She identifies each recipe with symbols, wheat-free, vegetarian, etc. And the recipes are simple, don’t require unusual ingredients or tools, and are really yummy. The ones I’ve tried are also easy to adjust, like I omitted the egg from the veggie pancakes and they work just fine!
The Kid Friendly ADHD and Autism Cookbook The Ultimate Guide to the Gluten Free Casein Free Diet

The Kid Friendly ADHD and Autism Cookbook The Ultimate Guide to the Gluten Free Casein Free Diet

The best kid-friendly recipes and guide to the gluten-free milk-free diet for ADHD and Autism. What it is. Why it works. How to do it.
The Centers for Disease Control reports significant increases in Autism and ADHD - both affecting primarily boys. The CDC estimates that 1 out of 175 children (age 4 to 17) currently have Autism (300,000). Before 1985, Autism occurred in less than 1 out of 2000. ADHD is much more common in that it affects 4.4 million U.S. children (age 4 to 17).
Common to both of these conditions is the negative impact of certain foods - especially milk products and glutens such as wheat(and to a lesser degree - soy and corn.) One of the challenges that parents face is coping with children who have picky appetites and crave the very foods that affect their behavior, focus and development. The other challenge is finding ways to get their children to eat healthy foods and improve their nutritional status.
The uniqueness of this! book is that it not only provides gluten-free milk-free substitutes and recipes, it provides successful suggestions for feeding the picky eater. The authors share details about just how and why the diet works. The specialty ingredients are explained and extensive sources provided. There are also testimonials from the parents and from the children themselves.

5 Stars Super simple recipes
I love this book. I have had it for almost a year now and have learned a great deal. I am buying one for a good friend now who’s son was just diagnosed with autism.
The recipes are very basic and simple, good if you are a busy mom and good if your kids are picky eaters. My boys luckily eat a variety of foods but we have loved the recipes from this book! I have a few other books that deal with gluten-free and casien-free recipes which I also use often.
This is a great resource! A must have book!
5 Stars great item. Lots of help
Great item. Lots of help for anyone allergic to gluten. Will be a huge help in our house.
4 Stars Great information, recipes are ok
Having made several recipes out of here I can say that about 70% of them turn out decent or good. We’ve mainly made the baked goods since I think cooking meat and vegetables without gluten or dairy is easy (for me). Also since my daughter does not eat much of those yet, my main interest from the recipes was things like pancakes, breads etc. The best recipe in the baked goods is the carrot cake. The major downside to a lot of the sweeter treats like cookies and cakes though is how much sugar is in them and high calories per serving. For example, that carrot cake runs about 800 cals/serving!
The best part of this book was the explanation of the effects of food sensitivities and intolerances (not necessarily allergies) on a child. My daughter has mild autism and I had heard about the gluten free casein free diet and been skeptical until I read this book. It was the first good explanation of what happens in the body and brain biologically and why the kids get into a vicious cycle with moods etc. I recognized the symptoms in my child and thought to give it a try. We went through a 6 week “withdrawal” period but after that it was like she came out of a fog. The diet is by no means some miracle cure - she still has bad days, but she has a LOT more good ones now.
5 Stars Very helpful with lots of info.
This book not only provides great easy recipies but also has some great info as well. I would definately recomend!!!
3 Stars good resource but many typos.
I purchased this book because I was looking for a cookbook where it is easy to spot not only GFCF recipes, but also egg free recipes as my son has an egg allergy in addition to being on the GFCF diet. I was very excited to see that at the top of each recipe is states which allergens were present in each recipe. Much to my dismay, many of the recipes which state they are egg free are in fact not egg free when you scroll down and read the ingredients. These mistakes defeat the whole reason I purchased the book. The recipes I tried that are truly egg free were good.
